A High Powered Photo Shoot of the Elegant Porsche Dealership in San Luis Obispo
I’ve been creating photos and videos of a lot of car dealerships lately. Recently, I was hired to photograph the new Porsche dealership in San Luis Obispo, California. The best time to photograph an auto dealership is when it’s brand new, so in this case, I tried to schedule my photo shoot as close to their grand opening as possible. In most architecture jobs, there is a very small window of time between everything being ready for photos but not yet open to the public.
What it Took
Fast and unobtrusive is always my goal when I work on a location like this, but getting the best photos is first and foremost. For this series of photo shoots, I didn’t have to be as fast as a Porsche, but I did have to come back several times to get the shots I wanted. This dealership shoot included showrooms’ interiors, lounge areas, a coffee & wine bar, meeting rooms, offices, a store, and the garage. I also shot both aerial drone and ground based exterior photos and video.
Some of the cool features of this Porsche dealership include a glass staircase, a massive lightbox, a video wall, and a second-floor conference room with glass walls that look down over the service garage. After I got all the shots I needed, I returned a few days later during the grand opening. That night dozens of Porsche owners show up in their beautiful cars for the special event.
The Client
This photo shoot was for the talented team at J.W. Design & Construction, who worked with Goree Architects to create this somewhat small but very elegant dealership. Other dealership brands I’ve photographed lately include: Honda, Toyota, Kia, Chrysler, Tesla, and Ford, but this was definitely one of the coolest ones.
